Social Studies Curriculum Designer (EdPuzzle)

Edpuzzle is one of the fastest-growing companies in educational technology, trusted by over 80% of schools in the USA. Our goal is to bring every teacher and student just a click away from an excellent online education. By creating an extensive library of interactive video lessons, we are on our way to becoming a “one-stop-shop” where teachers can find reliable, standards-aligned videos to help their students master important social studies content.

We are looking for a curriculum designer to join our social studies curriculum team. You will develop short-form video lessons that captivate, inform and educate students.

  • Curriculum Planning: Build clear, standards-aligned unit plans. Develop instructional models for videos that maximize utility for teachers and pedagogical effectiveness for students. Research and validate these approaches with teachers and students.
  • Script Writing: Develop compelling scripts for short-form video lessons that teachers and students love. Search out the most engaging and interesting phenomena, artifacts, and stories that will “hook” students. Turn feedback from supervisors, editors, and peers into even better work.
  • Video Production: Work closely with members of the video production team to provide direction and feedback on storyboarding, image pulling, illustrations, and animations. Meet weekly with the entire video team, project manager, and curriculum director.
  • Scaling: Develop production processes and criteria that clearly articulate what an amazing video lesson looks and sounds like and how to build it. Over time, use this to onboard, train, and manage lesson writers to scale curriculum production.
  • User Research: Connect with teachers who use our curriculum videos. Solicit and incorporate their feedback to improve classroom experiences for teachers and students. Determine teachers’ and students’ needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of 6-12 social studies teaching experience or public history experience
  • Creative, with a knack for distilling complex concepts into simple, kid-friendly explanations

  • Strong pedagogical skills; able to lead students to self-discovery, rather than relying on rote content instruction
  • Ability to empathize and intuit where students will struggle when learning a concept
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive education

Hiring for remote work in these states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia & Washington.
