- Develop engaging middle school and high school project-based STEAM lessons, content, activities, and assessments for a plant mission to the International Space Station with a focus on carbon sequestration and biogeochemical cycles
- Collaborate with the Magnitude team to develop a scope and sequence rooted in NGSS standards that tie together the mission’s science goal and scientific inquiry
- Conduct scientific literature reviews and translate technical content into a form appropriate for the grade level
- Provide professional development to mission educators
Qualifications
- Enthusiasm for space-based STEAM learning and engagement
- State professional educator certification in at least one science subject area
- Strong high school biology and Earth/environmental science pedagogical content knowledge
- At least 3 years of experience teaching AP Environmental Science and/or AP Biology
- Clear working knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards and AP science practices, topics, and skills
- Demonstrated experience integrating math, engineering, and technology skills in science lessons
- Experience in creating engaging project-based learning experiences and lessons for high school students
- Passion for inquiry-based learning to drive curiosity, perseverance through problem-solving, and motivating students to develop a positive growth mindset
- Created formative and summative assessments, including project-based rubrics, based on Webb’s Depths of Knowledge or Bloom’s Taxonomy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Enthusiasm for creating and delivering engaging multimedia presentations and videos
- Tech savvy with mastery level of Google Workspace applications and Zoom, including confidence in speaking on camera
