Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (Goalbook)

 Our Mission and Values

Goalbook’s mission is to empower teachers to transform instruction so that ALL students succeed.  We partner with 600 districts across 45 states, working closely with district and school leaders to improve instructional practice.  Goalbook was founded in 2011 by Daniel Jhin Yoo and Justin Su.

Our first core value is Relationships. We believe in the power of human connection and the importance of relationships across different strengths, backgrounds, personalities, and identities in order to achieve our shared goals and overall mission.

Our second core value is Growth. We strive to create a supportive and challenging environment so that people are continuously growing as professionals and increasing their impact. We also believe in having the time, space, and support to grow in our personal lives as well.

Our most important asset is our people. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are an inherent part of our values and critical to our pursuit of a school system where ALL students succeed – especially for student groups that have systematically not been given equal opportunities, such as students with special needs and students of color.

Who We’re Looking For

As the Head of DEI, you will be an instrumental leader in pushing Goalbook on its journey of creating a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable company so that we can effectively work on our company mission. You will drive DEI initiatives that ensure all team members experience inclusion, belonging, and fairness so that everyone can bring their authentic selves and diverse talents in pursuit of our collective mission.

You have natural curiosity for and care deeply about people from all identity groups and walks of life. You bring DEI expertise with a deep understanding of racial and social justice issues and try to see them in their full complexity by taking on a variety of perspectives, values, and cultural norms. Your track record demonstrates a growth-oriented and relationships-driven approach as you hold yourself and others accountable in reaching important business outcomes and targets. You are a clear and persuasive communicator who cultivates conditions of psychological safety – encouraging openness, vulnerability, and a growth mindset as you bring together people with different levels of seniority, job functions, motivations, and perspectives.

This is not the typical leadership role. As a company, we have often sacrificed maximum growth in a deliberate effort to grow responsibly. We expect this role to fully embrace Goalbook’s Guiding Business Principle, which states that we strive to balance growth in three dimensions: revenue and profitability, impact toward our mission, and team experience.
