ABOUT THE POSITION
EL has gained national recognition as an organization providing high quality K-8 curriculum and professional development on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The Teacher Reviewers: Grades K-5 Language Arts Curriculum will read and review 8-9 weeks of teacher guidance and student facing materials at a given grade level against a rubric, and provide written and oral feedback. This position represents an exciting opportunity for K-5 teachers who:
- Are currently teaching ELA in K-5 classrooms
- Have a deep understanding of the K-5 ELA CCSS
- Have a deep understanding of what is age and developmentally appropriate for a given grade level in K-5
- Want to gain experience in the creation and review of the K-5 ELA curriculum?
This is a part-time, project-based position, designed to be done outside of teaching hours. We seek teacher reviewers for approximately 50 hours of work to begin in February 2022 and finish in March 2022.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be under the supervision of the Senior Director, Curriculum Design. The reviewer will:
- Participate in one 90-minute virtual training session in February 2022
- Read all teacher and student facing materials in a module (approximately 8-9 weeks of instruction) at a given grade level
- Read all texts provided for a module
- Provide written and oral feedback using a rubric by a given deadline
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
A successful Teacher Reviewer will have:
- Five or more years of experience teaching English Language Arts to K-5 students in diverse classrooms, including multilingual learners. We are looking for teachers who are currently teaching.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism
- A keen and critical eye for detail
- Outstanding writing and oral skills
- Effective time-management skills
COMPENSATION
All teacher reviewers will be compensated $1750 for approximately 50 hours of work.
The anticipated start date for this position is February 2022. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
